A great source of trace elements for fertilizing and soil conditioning, Alfalfa Meal is loved by roses and earthworms alike.  Works very well as a compost bio-activator due to its carbon to nitrogen ratio and also makes a great mulch for use in the planting and growing stages of your plant's life.  Apply 5 to 10 lbs per 100 sq.ft.  Alfalfa Meal is a reasonable alternative to blood meal as a source of nitrogen and is balanced with phosphorus and potassium.  Its carbohydrates and protein make it an excellent soil conditioner by encouraging microbial activity in the soil.
